22 Franklin Half Dollars Offered in Dallas

Franklin half dollars, which have been unusually absent from recent auctions, will be featured at Heritage Auctions upcoming U.S. Coin Auction at their world headquarters in Dallas, Texas, on Thursday, Oct. 17.

Among the 22 Franklin halves being offered, two conditionally rare proofs highlight the offering – a superb 1950 PR-67+ Cameo NGC and an equally fantastic 1951 PR-67+ Ultra Cameo NGC.

One of just a handful of 1950 PR-67 Cameo halves that qualify for special recognition by NGC, this brilliant and deeply-mirrored Plus-graded Cameo example shows essentially no hairlines, toning spots, or glue spots that plague the proofs in even the highest grades. Only three finer exist.

The 1951 PR-67+ Ultra Cameo certified by NCG is the single finest cameo certified at NGC and is tied for the finest overall.

These two examples certainly will challenge those collectors looking to complete a set of exceptional cameo Franklin half proofs to take notice.

Heritage Readies Long Beach Paper Money Auction

I look forward to sharing the auction results with you next month. The first note is Lot 20637, a $10,000 1934 Federal Reserve Note PMG-graded Unc. 66 EPQ. According to Heritage, the note is one of just three $10,000s certified by PMG at this level for all series and districts. Having perfect centering, ideal colors, and excellent eye appeal, it should be a great performer. The note is projected to exceed its estimate of $200,000-$300,000.
